Overview

Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach a variety of courses in U.S. and World History. Additional instruction could include but not be limited to courses in African American.
  • Implement current theories and methods of teaching including Distance Education Instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in program review and curriculum development, and participate in other departmental functions.
  • Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in staff development activities.
  • Serve on area and college-wide committees as necessary to support and enrich the instructional program.
  • Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Provide critical and timely feedback on all assignments.
  • Comply with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties.
  • Participate in the assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s in history OR Bachelor’s in history AND Master’s in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science or ethnic studies OR the equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Knowledge of African American history
