Overview

The Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Criminology at Troy University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach courses in the Sociology and Criminology programs with an anticipated start date in January or August 2024.

We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field. Doctoral candidates who are ABD and near graduation will also be considered. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with experience in corrections, GIS, or human trafficking. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours per semester (4/4 teaching load) in a combination of face-to-face and online graduate and undergraduate courses. The successful candidate will also conduct and publish research, mentor and advise students, and provide service to the department, university, and community.

Our collaborative and friendly department is one of the biggest at Troy University and offers four undergraduate majors (Anthropology, Sociology, Social Science, and Criminology), and two online Master’s programs (Criminal Justice and Social Sciences with various concentrations, including Sociology and Criminology). Minimum Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited
institution (applicants that are ABD and near graduation will also be considered)
2. Must have the ability to teach both face-to-face as well as in online environments
3. Ability to conduct scholarly research, publish peer-reviewed work, and seek out grant funding in area of specialization

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of online learning pedagogy
2. Two years of teaching experience
