Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a Regular Full-time, Non-tenure Track Instructor of History.  An M.A. in History from an accredited university is required. Candidates earning their degree by August 2024 will be considered if they provide documentation.

Candidates should have strong, broad training in History and be prepared to offer a variety of Contemporary U.S. History undergraduate courses, including African American, 20th Century, Economic and Social/ Cultural subject matter beginning August 2024.  Candidates should also be prepared to teach both halves of the U.S. History survey courses (U.S. History to 1876 and U.S. History since 1876). Teaching duties are mainly face-to-face on the Durant campus five days per week but might also include some online courses. Southeastern faculty members participate in departmental meetings, write assessment reports, and perform service to the department, university, and community.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University, founded in 1909 as a teacher college, continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas. Student enrollment is approximately 5,500 and the main campus is in Durant, Oklahoma, which is 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred start date is August 1, 2024. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
