The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Political Science to begin in August 2024. The candidate’s area of specialization is open. Responsibilities include teaching courses within and contributing to the development of the Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology (PPES) program.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching in higher education and a willingness to contribute to the design and implementation of the PPES program, collaborating with colleagues to create an engaging and comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the university’s mission with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and team-taught courses.

It is also expected that the successful candidate will maintain a commitment to excellence in teaching, diversity, scholarship, and service. All employees must understand the mission of Catholic higher education and be committed to the core values, mission, goals and objectives of Holy Family University.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Teaching of courses in their assigned discipline
  • Maintaining academic excellence in their classrooms
  • Advising students in their assigned discipline
  • Strong commitment to research and scholarly activities, including mentorship and supervision.
  • Participation in school- and university-wide committees and initiatives
  • Ability to contribute to the development of a new academic program.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a PhD or terminal degree in Political Science or a related field. ABD will be considered as long as the degree is conferred by the start date.
