Overview

The Department of Philosophy and Religion seeks a full-time Instructor of Philosophy beginning August 2024.

Successful candidates will have an M.A. or Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field; Ph.D. is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in ethics and college level teaching experience.

Responsibilities include teaching philosophy, professional ethics, and religious ethics. The teaching load is 24 semester credits per year (4-4 distribution). The successful candidate will show a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population within a liberal arts context and will be willing to participate in the College’s First Year Seminar and General Education programs. The Department of Philosophy and Religion consists of 2 tenured faculty and offers minors in ethics, peace studies, and philosophy and religion. Candidates who are ABD will be considered if their degree is expected to be conferred by August 1, 2024.

Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.
