The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Philosophy Faculty member. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at West Liberty University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor of philosophy for the 2026–2027 academic year. AOS: open. AOC: ethics, social and political philosophy. The successful candidate will teach general education courses in philosophy (introduction to philosophy, introduction to ethics, logic and critical thinking) plus upper- level courses in bioethics and in philosophy of law/social/political.

The position has a 4/4 teaching load. Engagement with the department and university are encouraged, but the position has no service or scholarship requirements.

Experience with online education is desirable, as there is opportunity for some online teaching.

Essential Functions of the position:

• Curriculum development
• Student advisement
• Online Instruction
• Participate in activities related to student recruitment and retention

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Required a master's degree in Philosophy
• Preferred PH.D. in Philosophy with a demonstrated record of teaching experience.

A faculty member is expected to participate in continuous improvement in the areas of teaching, professional development, and service to the University and community. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
