Overview

The AOS is Non-Western Philosophy broadly understood (e.g. Islamic Philosophy, Asian Philosophy, African/a Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy and/or Indigenous Philosophy of the Americas). The AOC: Ethics. The successful candidate will be expected to have the ability to teach Critical Thinking courses. The regular teaching load will be four undergraduate courses per semester and may include a combination of face-to-face and online courses. These courses will include, among other things, some combination of Critical Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy and Contemporary Moral Issues.

The application will require (a) a letter of interest, (b) a curriculum vitae, © three letters of reference, (d) graduate and undergraduate transcripts (Applicants may submit unofficial transcripts for initial screening; however, official transcripts are required for credential review prior to on-campus interviews.), (e) evidence of teaching ability (including, but not limited to, teaching statement, student evaluations, and sample syllabi), (f) research statement, (g) a writing sample (h) sample syllabus for 2000-level Critical Thinking course, (i) Diversity statement discussing how the applicant would engage a diverse student population such as Sam Houston State University that meets the College of Humanities and Social Sciences core goals.
