Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology. Full-time, temporary, non-tenure track, academic staff appointment for the August 2017 to May 2018 academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD in Cultural Anthropology with degree awarded by the beginning of the appointment required.

Expertise in Native North America and ability to teach a Native Americans course preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach 15 credit hours (5 courses) per-semester, including introductory level Cultural Anthropology and other upper division anthropology courses in the candidate’s area of expertise; and/or research methods to support the Applied Social Science Program. Contribute to assessment and provision of instruction in the Social Science Department and the Applied Social Science Program. Perform other duties as assigned by the chair.

A successful candidate will have a commitment to undergraduate teaching and research mentoring. Evidence of teaching excellence or potential to develop excellent teaching is required. UW Stout is a laptop campus, so online teaching ability and interest a plus. Must be willing to collaborate across disciplines and work well with others in an interdisciplinary department and Applied Social Science Program.
