Mercy College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor, Critical Inquiry to begin Fall, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching the first year Critical Inquiry course that incorporates general education competencies in reading fluency, critical thinking, and information literacy, and a Junior that assesses additional competencies in writing, oral communication, and quantitative analysis. Consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in teaching first-generation college students of diverse backgrounds, and commitment to promoting the values of General Education in an undergraduate curriculum. Successful candidate will be fluent in technology, including ePortfolio, and familiar with methods of student engagement and assessment of learning outcomes.

Education Required or Min Education Required:
A Ph.D. or relevant terminal degree in a Liberal Arts discipline is expected at appointment date.

Experience and/or Skills Required:
Experience with innovative projects and high-impact practices are strongly preferred. The Critical Inquiry/Seminars program is part of Department of Humanities, School of Liberal Arts, and is committed to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive intellectual community. Service at the Department, School and College levels is expected, as is teaching at multiple campuses in Dobbs Ferry, Bronx, Manhattan and online.
