The Business & Public Service Department invites applicants to apply for a full-time tenure-track position in Criminal Justice. Seeking qualified candidates to primarily teach courses as assigned including criminal justice and law enforcement.
Responsibilities included, but not limited to:
Instruct criminal justice and law enforcement-related courses as assigned. Emphasis on policing, juvenile delinquency, and police supervision and administration.
Instruct courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
Develop and use a syllabus for each course within College and departmental guidelines.
Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.
Regularly evaluate courses to ensure that learning outcomes and assessments are appropriate/effective.
Review, evaluate, and recommend student-learning materials.
Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
Commitment to the principles of a learning-centered institution.
Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
Willingness to participate in the organization and planning of student clubs, internships and cooperative education experiences.
Assist with departmental strategic planning, program reviews and outcomes assessment.
Maintain currency and professional development in technology and pedagogy.
Participate in college/departmental professional development activities.
Serve on College-wide committees as assigned.
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.
Work collaboratively in a diverse learning institution; demonstrate commitment to teaching and working with a multi-cultural and multi-generational student body.
Adhere to College policies and procedures.
Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or related field required.
Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for instructing on-line courses.
Law Enforcement background with upper-level supervisory experience in municipal, county, state or federal agency highly desirable.
Computer and technological competence required.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology preferred.
Minimum of two years college teaching or continuing education teaching experience preferred.
