Rivier University invites applications for a one-year, renewable, term appointment (non-tenure track) as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, joining colleagues on the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy.

QualificationsArea of concentration or specialty should be in ethics. Candidates should be committed first and foremost to teaching philosophy to undergraduates within the context of general education, under the category, “Philosophy, Ethics, Values, and Moral Choices.” Current courses include “Contemporary Moral Issues” and “Theories of Ethics.” The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop other courses in this category, as well as a capstone seminar that enhances the student’s connection with the Catholic vision of the University by focusing on justice and global responsibility. Candidates who also have the ability to teach the University’s First Year Seminar in Religious Studies would be especially competitive.

The successful candidate will be able to articulate why they are interested in teaching at a Roman Catholic University whose core mission is “transform hearts and minds to serve the world.”
