SWOSU invites applications to fill a full-time position in the department of Language and Literature. The teaching schedule of the successful candidate will include composition; experience teaching composition at the college level both face-to-face and on-line is required. Additional training and experience in the following areas are desirable: developmental writing, general humanities, and working with underrepresented populations.

Description of Job Duties

  • Successful candidates effectively present a variety of teaching strategies and materials; hold classes as scheduled; allot a minimum of ten hours a week for student assistance; participate in departmental assessment; maintain accurate student records; maintain effective collegial communication; and, abide by all departmental and university policies.
  • The teaching schedule of the successful candidate will depend on department needs, but first-year PhD faculty usually teach a 4/4 load with professional development and service also expected; MA faculty teach a 5/4 load with reduced expectations for scholarship.

Education and Experience

  • PhD or M.A. accepted (tenure line requires PhD) in English, Composition Studies, or Basic Writing.
