McNeese State University invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Sociology for Family and Child Studies in the Department of Social Sciences. This is a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins in August 2018.

Position Description and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Professor of Family and Child Studies will teach undergraduate courses in the Family and Child Studies Program and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching and advising undergraduate students in traditional, online, and experiential learning settings (e.g. classroom instruction, field experience, student research, and service learning projects)
  • Conducting research in candidate’s area of expertise and disseminating results through scholarly publications
  • Providing service which may include participation at one or more of the following levels-department, college, university, community, or civic organization
  • Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations or associations

Required: Earned doctorate, university teaching experience, and the ability to teach undergraduate courses in the Family and Child Studies program, including the following:

  • Ph.D. in Family and Child Studies, Marriage and Family, Family Studies, or Social Work before August 14, 2018
  • CFLE (Certified Family Life Educator)
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching, research, and scholarship
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
