Overview

Upper Iowa University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Sociology within the School of Liberal Arts on the main Fayette campus. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment beginning the 2019-20 academic year. Duties include teaching a 24-credit hour teaching load per academic year (in both face-to-face and in online modalities), advising students as assigned, and engaging in scholarship and service activities as defined in the University Faculty Handbook. A PhD in Sociology or a closely related field at the time of appointment is strongly preferred. While all areas of expertise will be considered, a background or emphasis in Human Services or Social Work is also preferred. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Continued professional development, as well as professional, university, school, and community service are factored into tenure decisions.
