WNMU’s School of Social Work is seeking an Assistant Professor of Social Work. Applications are invited for a 9 month tenure-track faculty position with a contract starting August 2018, with the opportunity to teach summer classes beginning 6/1/18.
Position carries with it a requirement to live in Silver City, NM. Teaching (specifically in field) and student advising are the primary responsibilities of this position.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:Position responsibilities include teaching MSW field classes (students in internships), advising, field liaison responsibilities, assessment, university service, scholarly activity, and community service.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:A willingness to participate in distance learning and ability to use technology are essential. Diversity of experience and education is also essential to address the broad range of students in foundation and advanced generalist fieldwork throughout the country.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:Minimum requirements: MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution and a minimum of 2 years post-MSW social work practice experience is required. Candidates must be eligible for social work licensure in New Mexico and possess a diverse educational and practice background.
Preferred requirements: Preference granted to individuals with an earned doctorate or ABD in social work or related field and/or an MSW with 5 or more years post-MSW practice experience. Preference is also granted to individuals with previous experience in higher education, and to individuals with proficiency in cultural diversity. Experience with teaching using technology is preferred.
Additional Requirements: The individual hired will be expected to serve on University Committees and do advising. Some travel to WNMU field placement agencies across New Mexico may be required, living in Silver City, NM, is required.
