SWOSU invites applications to fill a full-time, tenure track position in the Department of Language and Literature. The teaching schedule of the successful candidate will include first year composition and upper level writing and rhetoric courses focused on composition theory, multimodal composition and professional/technical writing.
A search committee member will be available at the MLA convention to meet with candidates for informal interviews.
Description of Job Duties
Successful candidates effectively present a variety of teaching strategies and materials; hold classes as scheduled; allot a minimum of ten hours a week for student assistance; participate in departmental assessment; maintain accurate student records; maintain effective collegial communication, and abide by all departmental and university policies. The teaching schedule of the successful candidate will depend on departmental needs, but first year professors usually have a full load (4/4) of classes.
Education and Experience
PhD in hand in Composition/Rhetoric, Basic Writing, Writing Studies or Professional Writing; experience teaching composition at the college level both on-line and face-to-face; interest in co-requisite writing courses, assessment and/or social media a plus.
