Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of History and Political Science invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science. The successful candidate will provide 27 – 32 hours of instruction per academic year, consistent with the college’s mission, and maintain office hours for student tutoring. The successful candidate will also meet requirements for professional development and service to the institution that are established for faculty on tenure-track. This is a full-time tenure-track position located at Perimeter College.

Three years’ or more experience teaching political science at the collegiate level is desired. Experience in teaching fully online is a plus.

The doctoral degree in Political Science (completed by the date of appointment) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach introductory courses in American Government and Political Science at the college- level. Ability and desire to teach effectively using a variety of methods. Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.

Physical Requirements:
Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.

Work Hours:
Position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends).

Salary: $42,082 – $50,082 (10 month Salary Range)
