The Department of English at Sam Houston State University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Early American Literature with a specialization in ethnic literatures during the early American period. The successful candidate might focus on the colonial period and Latin-American writing, early African-American literature, Native American literature, or intersections of these literatures.

The chosen candidate will teach three courses per semester (face-to-face and online) that include all levels of undergraduate and M.A. courses in early American literature, world literature, and occasionally freshman composition. Other required activities include:

Cultivating and maintaining an active research agenda

Supporting the Department, College, and University through service

Actively engaging in recruitment and curriculum development
