Overview

The Department of English invites applications for a tenure track position in creative writing, with an emphasis in fiction. We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and excellence through teaching, research, and service.

General Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include teaching intermediate and advanced fiction courses, as well as courses in rhetoric and composition and/or possibly literature. The annual course teaching load is 4/4. The candidate will also work with visiting writers and serve on the creative writing committee. English faculty members are expected to attend and present at academic conferences and continue to publish in their fields of expertise. SUU requires service to the department, university, and community, as well as participation in related academic and professional organizations. Faculty members must represent the highly collegial English Department with integrity and in a professional and pleasant manner.

Required Qualifications1. Ph.D. in Creative Writing, with a concentration in fiction

2. Demonstrable familiarity with innovative pedagogical approaches, outcome-based learning, and current assessment methods

3. Demonstrated potential for academic research and publication.

4. Demonstrated success in teaching General Education composition courses at the university level

Preferred Qualifications1. The successful candidate will have significant publications in nationally recognized journals.
