The Division of Languages and Literature at Delta State University is seeking a full-time assistant professor of English. A concentration in modern or contemporary literature is desired. A PhD or MFA in hand is required.
Applicants with MFAs will be considered if they have significant graduate course work in modern or contemporary literature or drama.
Candidates should have the ability to teach general education multi-genre and composition classes, as well as upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in a 4-4 teaching load. Significant experience teaching at the college level, experience directing dramatic productions, and experience teaching online are preferences, but not requirements.
Service responsibilities include advising, recruiting, program assessment, program supervision, and serving on departmental and university committees.
The teaching load is a 4-4 in English, thus a minimum of 18 earned graduate hours in English composition and literature is required of all applicants. A PhD or MFA in hand is required.

A specialization in modern and contemporary literature, the ability to teach high-quality online classes, and the ability to direct dramatic productions are preferences, but not requirements.
