Overview

The Department of History at St. Mary’s College of Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track position in Modern Russian History beginning in fall 2018. Topics and chronological fields are open, but preference will be given to those with sub-fields in Eastern European or Byzantine History. At the time of appointment, applicants should have a completed Ph.D. (or expected to be completed prior to August 2018) in History. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent teaching, the capability to engage and inspire students in their academic work, and the ability to contribute to the Department’s program and course development. The successful candidate will also provide evidence of an active engagement with a program of quality research and publication.

Non-sectarian since its founding, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public Carnegie Baccalaureate, Arts and Sciences institution located in St. Mary’s City, 70 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., has been designated as Maryland’s public honors college.   • a description of the candidate’s approach to pedagogy and of how their teaching at the College will contribute to a culture of inclusion and campus diversity,

  • sample syllabi of two possible courses.

4) a writing sample.
5) a statement outlining the candidate’s proposed program of research.
6) three letters of reference.
