The Department of English at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in English with a primary specialization in Technical/Professional Writing and a secondary emphasis in Digital Rhetoric or New Media to begin effective August 2019. Scholarly activities and service to the department, college, university, and community are required. Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
A Ph.D. in Technical Writing, Professional Writing or English with a specialization in Technical and Professional Writing by August 1, 2019. A commitment to high-quality teaching and a dedication to service are required.
The teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in technical and professional writing, English composition, and digital rhetoric or New Media. Additional responsibilities will include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, serving on master’s thesis and portfolio committees, participating in student recruitment and advisement, actively pursuing a substantive agenda for scholarly work, and serving on department, college, and university committees.
