Overview

The Department of English at Marshall University invites applications for a tenure eligible Assistant Professor of English with a specialization in fiction writing. We are seeking a candidate who can contribute to one or more secondary areas in disability studies, gender and sexuality studies, film studies, poetry, multimedia composition, and grant writing and editing. Preferred candidates will have experience in advising and curriculum development. Teaching experience and evidence of publication or creative/scholarly potential required as well as Ph.D. in English or MFA in hand by time of appointment.

The individual hired will fill an important role in our creative writing major and minor. Duties will include a full-time teaching load of 12 hours per semester, in addition to advising, participation in scholarship and/or creative activities, service, and other duties as designated by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and/or Chair of the Department of English. We also seek candidates who will contribute to the English Department curriculum through the courses required of all majors: ENG 350, 355, and 499. In addition, all Marshall University faculty must display a firm commitment to general education, including requirements for First-Year Seminar, critical-thinking classes, and writing-intensive requirements.
