The History Department at Old Dominion University invites applications for a tenure-track position, beginning in August 2019, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with research concentration in post-1500 sub-Saharan African History.

Field of specialization is open; applicants who can contribute to interdisciplinary programs in African studies and are interested in community outreach are preferred. Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach an African survey course and undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of expertise. Ph.D. in History is required by the time of appointment.
